What we do

Three ways we work with your team.

Most learning fails at the handover — the room is energised, then Monday arrives. We design for what happens after the room, which is why every engagement pairs a programme with a way to reinforce it.

Talent development

Structured growth paths for the people you cannot afford to lose — high potentials, new managers, and the layer of leaders who carry your culture.

  • High-potential tracks
  • First-time manager transition
  • Succession & bench strength
  • 1:1 executive coaching

Corporate retreats

Off-sites with a spine. We combine facilitated sessions with the outdoors — highlands, islands, rainforest — so the team leaves with decisions made, not just photos taken.

  • Leadership off-sites
  • Strategy & alignment days
  • Team effectiveness retreats
  • Venue sourcing & logistics

Training & facilitation

In-house programmes built around your context, your language and your cases. Half-day to multi-week, delivered on site or at a venue of your choosing.

  • Custom in-house curricula
  • Facilitator-led workshops
  • Train-the-trainer
  • Post-programme measurement

Who we are

A Kuala Lumpur practice, built by practitioners.

Topworks was founded by people who ran the departments they now train — HR leaders, operators and facilitators who have sat on the other side of the budget conversation. That shapes how we work: no off-the-shelf slide decks, no theory without an application, and a straight answer when a programme is not the right fix for the problem.

We work across Malaysia and the wider region, in-house and residential, with organisations in hospitality, financial services, aviation, manufacturing and the public sector.

Programmes

Where teams usually start.

These are the programmes we are asked for most often. Each one is rebuilt around your industry, your team's level and the behaviour you actually want to change — and we build outside this list just as often.

Leadership

Leading Through Others

For managers moving from doing the work to getting it done through a team — delegation, accountability and difficult conversations.

Communication

Communication Mastery

Clarity under pressure: structuring a message, adapting to the person in front of you, and being understood the first time.

Self-awareness

Personality at Work — MBTI®

A certified MBTI® session that gives teams a shared, non-judgemental language for how they differ.

Coaching

Coaching & Mentoring Skills

Equip managers to develop people in the flow of work, with a coaching model they will still use six months later.

Presence

Presenting With Authority

Structure, delivery and nerves — for people who present to boards, clients and rooms that matter.

Emotional intelligence

EQ for Leaders

Self-regulation, empathy and reading a room, applied to real escalations from your own operation.

Service

Elevating the Guest Experience

Service leadership for hospitality and customer-facing teams, from first impression to service recovery.

Teams

Team Effectiveness Lab

Trust, conflict and commitment — a diagnostic plus a working session on how your team actually operates.

MBTI® certification

Four preferences. One shared vocabulary.

Our practitioners are certified to administer and debrief the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®. Used well, it is not a label — it is a way for a team to talk about difference without it becoming personal.

Individual debriefs

A one-to-one session to verify type and connect it to how someone is actually working today — their role, their pressures, their blind spots.

Team profiling

A type table for the whole team, showing where preferences cluster, where the gaps sit, and what that means for how you make decisions together.

Applied workshops

Type applied to a live problem — communication breakdowns, conflict patterns, change fatigue — rather than left as an interesting result.

Corporate retreats

Take the team out of the building.

A retreat is expensive to get wrong. Ours run to an agenda agreed with you beforehand, with a facilitator in the room, defined outcomes for each session, and a written record of what the team committed to before anyone gets on the bus home.

We handle the design and facilitation, and we can source and coordinate the venue — highland resorts in Cameron Highlands or Janda Baik, island properties in Langkawi and Penang, or somewhere closer to the office when time is short.

  • Format One to four days, residential or day-return
  • Group size Works best between 8 and 60 participants
  • Includes Design, facilitation, materials, follow-up report

How an engagement runs

Four stages, in this order.

01

Discovery

We talk to you and to a sample of the people who will be in the room. What is the behaviour you want to change, and what is currently rewarding the opposite? This is where we tell you if training is the wrong instrument.

02

Design

You get an outline before you get an invoice — objectives, session flow, cases drawn from your own operation, and the measure we will use afterwards. You sign off on the design, not a brochure.

03

Delivery

On site, at a venue, or residential. Practical, participative and paced for adults who have a day job — with the facilitator adapting live rather than working through a fixed deck.

04

Reinforcement

Group or individual coaching in the weeks that follow, planned with your HR or L&D team, plus a report on what shifted. This is the stage most providers skip and the one that decides whether any of it holds.

FAQ & support

Questions we are asked before we start.

01Are your programmes HRD Corp (HRDC) claimable?

Yes. If your organisation is registered with HRD Corp and levy-contributing, we work with a registered training provider partner so that eligible programmes can be submitted for grant and claim. We will prepare the supporting documentation — programme outline, trainer profile, costing and attendance records — and walk your HR team through the submission.

Tell us at the enquiry stage that you intend to claim, because it affects how the programme is documented from the start.

02Do you deliver programmes that are not listed on this site?

Regularly. The programmes listed here are simply the ones requested most often. We build custom curricula across leadership, communication, service, sales, operational and technical subjects, and we draw on a wider bench of specialist facilitators where a subject calls for it.

Send us the problem rather than the programme title, and we will tell you what we would do about it.

03Do you travel outside Malaysia?

Yes. We are based in Kuala Lumpur and deliver across Malaysia, but a significant share of our work is regional — Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, the Maldives and the Gulf. Travel, accommodation and per-diem costs are quoted separately and transparently, and we consolidate trips where a client has multiple sites.

04What happens after the programme ends?

Reinforcement is built into the engagement rather than sold as an afterthought. Depending on what we agree, that means individual or group coaching sessions in the following weeks, manager briefings so line managers know what to look for, and a short report on observed shifts against the objectives set at design stage.

Coaching is arranged as half-day or full-day blocks, or by the hour for individuals, and scheduled together with your HR or L&D team.

05Who is MBTI® certified, and how is the assessment administered?

MBTI® sessions are led by a certified practitioner. Participants complete the questionnaire online in advance, then take part in a verification session — individually or as a group — because a reported type is only a starting point until the person confirms it themselves.

We do not use type for selection, promotion or performance decisions, and we say so to participants at the outset. It is a development tool.

06What group size and lead time do you need?

Workshops run well between 12 and 25 participants; retreats work up to around 60 with the right structure. For larger populations we run repeat cohorts rather than filling a ballroom.

Three to four weeks is comfortable for a standard in-house programme. Retreats and multi-cohort rollouts need longer, mainly because of venue availability and diary coordination. We do accommodate shorter notice when a date is fixed — ask.

07What languages do you deliver in?

English is our default language of delivery. Bahasa Malaysia and selected other languages are available depending on the facilitator and the subject — confirm this with us at the enquiry stage so we assign the right person.

08How is a programme priced?

In-house programmes are priced per day for the group rather than per participant, which means the cost per person falls as the cohort fills. Assessments, materials, venue and travel are itemised separately so you can see what you are paying for.

You will receive a written proposal with the design attached before any commitment.
